Torah Soldiers

The yeshiva was established in Tel Aviv to groom Torah scholars and to serve as a Torah center in the heart of Israel’s major metropolis. It is located near the city’s business and cultural centers and its major economic, legal and military institutions. There are many large military bases with large numbers of soldiers located in Tel Aviv and its environs, including IDF headquarters at the Kirya, in the downtown area.

This proximity spurred the launch of the Torah Soldiers program, which has been operating for 10 years. The program is aimed at religious soldiers and officers who want to maintain a connection to the Torah world during their military service and to help them grapple with the challenges they face.

Participants live in apartments that the yeshiva has rented for them and thus enjoy a warm and supportive social environment. They attend a series of evening shiurim that has been tailored especially for their needs, and which includes sessions in emuna and halacha. In this framework the military men encounter and establish a relationship with Torah personalities who have expertise in a wide variety of Torah subjects.

The program is aimed at keeping IDF soldiers and officers connected to the world of the spirit, enhancing their Torah knowledge, and boosting their morale as they serve their country and the Jewish people.
