Losing a loved one is one of the most meaningful and difficult events in one’s life. The process of Jewish mourning focuses on the memory and honor of the deceased, and helps the bereaved family cope with their loss in a constructive and healthy way.

The world of Jewish tradition and values isn’t limited to times when life is proceeding smoothly and happily, but continues to connect Jews during the difficult moments of death and loss. The Jewish Culture Connection, together with the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Burial Society, operates a program to chaperone grieving families and help them cope with many aspects of mourning, both during the shiva period and beyond.

We offer an instructional pamphlet that explains the halachic and logistical aspects of the mourning. We are also there to help with the technical aspects of shiva –chairs for those coming to offer condolences, siddurim for those who will be conducting services in their home, help organizing the prayers, and more.

We offer suggestions for memorializing the deceased: saying Kaddish, learning sessions or educational programs in his memory and more. These support services are provided to anyone interested, free of charge.

We are here for you. We share in your grief and really want to help and support you.

We are here for you – because this is what connects us.
